Mathematician Óscar Felgueiras indicates that Portugal reached the peak of the fifth wave of Covid-19 last week.
“The number will have been registered on January 25th. About a week has already passed on these data and we are already on a downward trajectory throughout this week”, he explains, to the Renaissance.
The specialist who has been collaborating with the Government, on the pandemic, points out that “it is natural that there will be disturbance” of the numbers, for the election weekend, but indicates that a trend “did not occur suddenly long, we were already with a process of slowing down of sustained growth”.
“Right now, this slowdown is at the beginning of a decline. In the coming days it will be more evident”, he says.
Óscar Fel believes that there is a notorious “slowdown” of cases – “they were increasing and less and less” – that the drop in cases will be “relatively fast”.
The age group between the first years was 0 and the first 9 years occurred, with a reduction in terms of 12% of accumulated insufficiency in the last seven days.
“The peak was five days ago and since then there has been this reduction.
It is, therefore, in the near future, this trend for the remaining age groups, is expected “time by the parents’ generation” and “finally” that it is ending up “reaching everyone”.
Portugal registers this Tuesday another 63 deaths and 50,000 new cases of Covid-19, indicates the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
