Football, Tura confirmed president of the San Marino Federation
The president of the San Marino Football Federationfor the three-year period starting today and ending with the calendar year 2024, will be Marco Tura. The Elective Assembly, also convened to express itself on the positions in the Federal Council, renewed confidence in the President in office since 2017, yesterday evening after having found direct contact with a positive case of Covid-19. From a distance, Tura comments: “I want to thank all those who have chosen to renew their support for my candidacy by marrying one continuity line. In this elective comparison, we read the unequivocal meaning that the Federal Assembly has what it has deemed valid so far and merit of trustalso confirmed for the next three years“.
Marco Tura ran for the presidency together with William Guerra and Giampaolo Mazza, having also touched upon the confirmation of the role already in the first vote – when to defeat the competition it was necessary to obtain 2/3 of the votes of the voters present. Threshold therefore set at 44 preferences, taking into account the 66 representatives of affiliated companies, associations and the outgoing Federal Council who were at the San Marino Stadium last night. 43 have opted for the renewal of Marco Tura. Faced with a blank ballot, Giampaolo Mazza (12) got a better response than William Guerra (10), thus landing the ballot with the outgoing President.
In the revival of what was the electoral duel five years ago, this time the result of the count left no room for acrobatics. The official delegated by the CONS to supervise the work of the Elective Assembly, Bruno Gennari, certified how in the second vote Marco Tura was the most voted with 44 preferences, against the 21 votes cast in favor of Mazza (a white card, ed).
Subsequently, the Assembly – which unanimously approved the minutes, the final balance sheet 2021 and the forecast 2022 and renewed the position of Sole Auditor to Marco Cevoli by acclamation – procedure with the vote of the Federal Council. Unlike the presidential one-choice elections, those of the FSGC’s governing body left it to the 66 voters faculty to indicate from one to eight of the fourteen candidates.
In addition to the outgoing directors, office candidates, the following are proposed: Valeria Canini, William Guerra, Jessica Guidi, Giampaolo Mazza, Paolo Nanni and Lino Zucchi. Confirmed in the Federal Council Luca Albani (52 preferences), Luigi Zafferani (51), Filippo Bronzetti (50), Simone Grana (49) and Gian Luca Angelini (40). With the exception of Grana, for the third consecutive term, all the others were newly elected in the January 2017 session. Stefano Bevitori (28)at the third reconfirmation after being elected for the first time in 2009. A handful of votes was enough to exceed the preferences first of the excluded, William Guerra (27). It is worth remembering that, unlike the presidential elections, the Electoral Regulations do not provide for any form of ballot for the Federal Council elections. In the event of a tie – as stated in article 7.2 of the regulation – “the candidate with the longest continuous seniority of membership will be elected, primarily to the Federal Council and secondarily to the Federal Assembly“.
The real breakthrough, however, is pink: for the first time in over 90 years of history, the San Marino Football Federation will see women within its executive body. Not one, but both candidates who were proposed: Valeria Canini (34 votes) and Jessica Guidi (29), thus joining the Federal Council.
