Basketball/Nationale 1. BesAC ran in vain after Avignon-Le Pontet
Four days after a resounding victory against Le Havre (89-82), and in a still well-stocked Sports Palace (1,900 spectators) for the second and last match within it, BesAC did not manage to follow up against Avignon -Le Pontet in a match that could bring him closer to maintaining.
The Besançon spent their time chasing after the Vauclusiens, placed in orbit by Meyniel (14 points, 4 rebounds and 18 evaluation at the break) and Morgan (12 points and 5 rebounds and 25 points and 10 rebounds in the end). Nicolas Faure’s men only led once (5-3, 3rd), and were then rejected at eight points (7-15, 5th) then thirteen (28-41, 17th).
BesAC – Avignon-Le Pontet: 80-88
Quarter: 16-25, 19-20, 23-26, 22-17.
BesAC: Vitale-Boiteux 28, Knezevic 14, Foucault 11, Tonji 2, Valayer 3 then Redikas 1, Laporal, Mareschal 8, Prénom 13.
Avignon-Le Pontet: Bourcier 11, Meyniel 16, Bondo 6, Morgan 25, Biog 12 then Vincent 9, G. Bonomini 5, Kyungu 4.
Vitale-Boiteux has tried everything
Lacking fluidity in attack, unable to slow down the Avignon attack (58.6% on shots at the break), Besançon was without solution (35-45, 20th). But there was not much missing for the Palace to embrace. A small spark brought by Valentin Vitale-Boiteux, not yet 21, author of 24 points in the second half, including… 15 in the last quarter to bring Nicolas Faure’s band to -1 (78-79, 39th)!
Vincent then air-conditioned the Palais des sports with a long shot then the refereeing duo, in difficulty for a good part of the match, whistled a technical foul against Vitale-Boiteux, cursing, his nose bleeding, after encountering Bourcier’s elbow (78 -83, 40th).
Avignon-Le Pontet includes his victory, the BesAC, he had just missed a chance to take a big step towards maintaining even if, five matches from the end (including four at Montboucons), he kept the cards in hand…
