Red Bull Salzburg will maintain a white ‘home record’ against Znaim

EC Red Bull Salzburg is continuing the intense program of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League this week with three games. After Yesterday’s 3-2 defeat after a penalty shoot-out in Dornbirn, the Red Bulls want to start again tomorrow, Tuesday, at home against Tesla Orli Znojmo (7:15 p.m., Wings for Life match day, free live stream). Salzburg are guests in Bozen on Friday, followed by Sunday’s home game against the Vienna Capitals (4:30 p.m.).
In yesterday’s first away game of the season against the Dornbirn Bulldogs, the Red Bulls had to be satisfied with a point, but would have had enough opportunities to turn the tide differently. The Vorarlbergers have improved in the course of the encounter and recently won the penalty shootout. The league leaders are now all the more motivated to be successful again tomorrow in the home game against Znaim with a better chance in front of their own fans – 700 spectators are allowed (2G rule, no PCR test is required).
In the head-to-head with the Czechs, the Red Bulls lead 2-1 victories. After the 3-1 defeat in Znojmo at the end of October, the Red Bulls won 5-2 at the same venue a little later and also won 5-3 at home on December 10th. In the last laps, however, a clear upward trend can be seen at Znaim. The Adler have won four of their last five games and also beat HCB Südtirol 5-2 at home yesterday. The Czechs are eighth in the table, but have only played 36 games (the Red Bulls have 39 games) and therefore have a real chance of climbing up in the fight for an immediate playoff spot.
That makes them particularly dangerous, as assistant captain Dominique Heinrich knows: “Znojmo is a very good skating team with a corresponding offensive. That also means for us that we have to skate a lot, be in good shape and give them as little space as possible so that they can create little or no chances to score. We should also take fewer penalties than yesterday in Dornbirn. We’ve been a bit undisciplined lately, but that shouldn’t be a big problem for our team and we can improve that tomorrow. In any case, we want to score three points.”
There is no change in the Salzburg squad. The convalescents Lucas Thaler, Atte Tolvanen, Alexander Pallestrang and Lukas Schreier will not be there tomorrow either. The game starts at 7:15 p.m. and can be seen on the Red Bulls’ free live stream.
Game day favored by Wings for Life
For the second time this season, the Red Bulls’ home game is all about Wings for Life, the foundation for spinal cord research. The Red Bulls will play in specially designed jerseys once, which will then be sold. All proceeds go 100% to Wings for Life. Once again Dominique Heinrich: “It’s always nice when you can do something for a good cause. We are happy that we can play ice hockey and if you can do something for people who are not doing so well, it’s all the better.”
