MARSEILLE: For the RN: “Aix-Marseille rail link, 182 million for that”?
For Franck ALLISIO, vice-president of the National Rally, Popular Right and Independents Group and Muriel FIOL, regional councilor at the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur Regional Council: “Aix-Marseille rail link, 182 million for that”
They add : “After four years of work and 182 million euros invested, the Aix-Marseille railway line was put back into service in December. But with a result well below the expectations that one could have after such a large investment. Admittedly, there is a train every quarter of an hour during rush hour. But outside peak hours, the line seems almost deserted: barely more than one train per hour, or even no train at all between 9:41 a.m. and 11:23 a.m. The opening of the line is postponed to 6 h 23, i.e. one hour lost compared to the old timetable. As for the last train, it leaves Marseille at 10 p.m., again an hour lost for users.
Over the whole day, there are only four additional trains on the Aix-Marseille line compared to 2017, before the start of the work. In short, in front of this balance sheet, one can only wonder: all that for that? 182 million euros for four additional trains? After such an investment of public money, the Regional Council must obtain better use of the line by the SNCF”.
