Milan (AFP) – Juventus have signed Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach, the Serie A club announced on Monday on a busy day of the transfer deadline for the old lady of Italian football.
In a statement, Juve said Zakaria has joined Torino for €4.5million (€5.05m), with the 25-year-old signing a contract until the end of June 2026 that will reportedly bring him €3m a season.
He would have been out of contract with Gladbach at the end of the current season after opting not to renew his contract with the German Bundesliga side.
Zakaria has played 40 times for his country, scored three goals and was part of the Swiss team that directly qualified Italy for the 2022 World Cup.
Juve also announced the signing of defender Federico Gatti from Frosinone on Monday. The 23-year-old will join Juve for a reported €10m but will remain on loan at his current Serie B club until the end of the season.
Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski then both signed for Tottenham Hotspur.
Juve said Uruguayan midfielder Bentancur has joined the Premier League club for €19m plus up to €6m in surcharges “upon reaching certain sporting performance targets”.
Kulusevski, meanwhile, is on a €10m loan to White Hart Lane until June next year, with Tottenham then committed to buying the Sweden international for €35m if he meets unspecified goals by the end of his loan.
Juve had already strengthened their line-up this month with the signing of Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina on Friday as the 36-time Italian champions look to qualify for the Champions League.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side are fifth in Italy’s top division, a point behind fourth-placed Atalanta, who have played a game more.
Vlahovic, joint top scorer in Serie A with 17 goals, was signed to improve a poor league record of just 34 goals in 23 games.
