RB Salzburg striker celebrates comeback! – Hockey-News.info
After yesterday’s 4-2 away win in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League against EC GRAND Immo VSV, EC Red Bull Salzburg closes the weekend with another away game on Sunday against the Dornbirn Bulldogs (5:30 p.m., live stream). As against Villach, it is Salzburg’s first trip this season to Dornbirn.
On September 24, 2021, in the first third game of the regular season, the Red Bulls lost 6-5 at home to the Dornbirn Bulldogs despite catching up in the final third. After this game, Salzburg briefly dropped to 10th place in the table, which was also the lowest point of the season. The Red Bulls are a long way from that now, four months later. Head coach Matt McIlvane’s team has been at the top of the table for 12 rounds and on December 30th Salzburg took revenge with a 3-1 home win over Vorarlberg.
The Red Bulls now want to shine in their first appearance of the season in the country and are preparing for an opponent who will do everything they can to score points. Because the Bulldogs are in 12th place in the table, but still have a chance of a pre-playoff placement, i.e. at least 10th place, but they need every point for that. The Bulldogs’ 2-1 away win in Klagenfurt yesterday showed just how serious they are.
Captain Thomas Raffl takes that as a sign of caution: “We won’t make the mistake of underestimating the team. We’re top of the table and we want to appear like one in every game. And we know that the standings in the table usually don’t reflect the true performance of the opponent.”
Yesterday’s three-goal scorer, Peter Schneider, has also been warned: “It will definitely be a difficult game again. Dornbirn got the upper hand again with yesterday’s victory in Klagenfurt and will start the party hard. We definitely have to be ready for snappy Vorarlbergers.”
Striker Ty Loney is also ready again, who will make his comeback in Dornbirn after exactly four weeks of a Corona-related break. Just yesterday Ali Wukovits returned to the ice after a long break. The Red Bulls are only missing Lucas Thaler, Atte Tolvanen, Alexander Pallestrang and Lukas Schreier from convalescence. The game starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be shown on the league’s paid live stream.
