ICE Hockey League: Graz99ers take revenge on HC Innsbruck – winter sports – ice hockey
The Graz99ers take revenge in the 43rd round of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League at HC Innsbruck for the 2:3 defeat suffered on Friday.
Less than 24 hours after this duel, the teams meet again “back-to-back” in Graz, this time the hosts have the better end on their side with another 3:2.
It quickly becomes a lively game in which Innsbruck die in the lead through Magwood in the 7th minute. A little more than two minutes later, Graz equalized with a man down: Ograjensek was in the cool box because of a hold and Oberkofler netted to make it 1-1 (9’/SH). After studying the video because of an alleged offside, the referees confirmed the sixth underman goal of the Styrians in the current season. This means they hold up with the most shorthanders of all teams.
Shortly before the first break, the 99ers turn the game around, with a bit of luck Grafenthin makes it 2-1 (17th).
For Graz, lost power plays do not cost too much
After two big chances for Innsbruck in the 33rd minute – Graz goalie Engstrand saves against Bourque, Magwood hits the bar – Lattner makes it better a few moments later after Boivin’s set-up mistake and scores the deserved equalizer (34th). The 99ers didn’t use three powerplays in this section, and the fourth at the beginning of the last section was not crowned with success either.
Shortly thereafter, the 99ers take the lead again, Alagic overcomes Innsbruck keeper McCollum with a one-timer (45th). This hit to 3:2 should remain the last and represent the final score. The sharks have nothing more to oppose in the final phase.
While Graz celebrates its first victory after two defeats in a row, the Tyroleans have to admit defeat again after just as many successes in a row.
In the table, the Styrians climb back into the top ten and thus occupy a place that entitles them to participate in the pre-playoffs. After 40 games, the Grazers have an average of 1,475 points. The Haie, on the other hand, slipped “below the line” again, collecting an average of 1,462 points per match in eleventh place. Compared to today’s opponent, they played one game less.
Due to the corona-related postponement of the game between Olimpija Ljubljana and the Vienna Capitals, only four games will be played in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League tomorrow, Sunday. The games between Dornbirn Bulldogs and Salzburg, Black Wings Linz and VSV, Fehervar and KAC as well as HC Znojmo and HC Bozen start at 5:30 p.m LIVE TICKER).
