Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) and the portal iMeteo.sk they warn against the strong wind that has hit Slovakia today. However, SHMÚ and iMeteo.sk state that a strong wind will manifest itself here tonight, but the worst will come tomorrow afternoon.
Today a second degree warning against the wind in Slovakia
(SHMÚ) issued a second-degree warning against strong winds in the mountains in the districts of northern Slovakia. As he informed on his website, these are the districts of Poprad, Brezno, Liptovský Mikuláš, Tvrdošín, Ružomberok and Banská Bystrica.
The alert lasts from 10:55 to Monday, January 31 until midnight. Meteorologists expect a transiently strong wind in places above the forest zone, which will reach gusts of 38-44 meters per second (135-160 km / h) and / or around 26 meters per second (95 km / h), according to SITA.

Snow languages and snowdrifts are threatening in the Prešov Region, Banská Bystrica, Brezno, Rožňava and Spišská Nová Ves and in the Trenčín Region, except for the districts of Myjava, Nové Mesto nad Váhom and Partizánske. The alert lasts until 6:00 the next day.

Portal iMeteo.sk warns that the storm named Nadia will be one of the strongest storms in recent months. It will appear mainly on Sunday.
On Sunday, the wind will blow mostly in the west and heavy country. In addition, snow is added, which can cause snowfall. According to the portal, the strongest gusts of wind are always provided in the mountain area.
The portal therefore warns of material damage, while people around the mountains should also be prepared for the possibility of a power outage due to fallen trees.
The SHMÚ has also issued a third-degree warning on Sunday against a strong wind in the mountains in the districts of northern Slovakia. These are the districts of Poprad, Brezno, Liptovský Mikuláš, Tvrdošín, Ružomberok and Banská Bystrica. The alert lasts from midnight tomorrow to Monday, January 31 until midnight. Wind gusts reached a speed of 45 – 50 meters per second (160 – 180 km). The alert is valid from 8:30 until midnight.
According to SHMÚ, this is an extremely strong wind. “The expected wind speed is extremely high at a given time of year and in the area and poses a great danger to human activities (especially for hiking and mountaineering),” pointed out SHMÚ.
