‘Clara Sola’ Swedish “Guldbagge” Film Awards – Deadline
Nathalie Álvarez Meséns Clara Sola was the big winner at the Swedish Film Prize 2022, known as Guldbagges, which won Best Picture and Best Director. Scroll down for the full list of winners.
Mesén also picked up Best Screenplay, shared with co-author Maria Camila Arias, for the Spanish-language film set in Costa Rica, which follows a 36-year-old woman who embarks on a journey to break free from social and religious conventions and become master of her sexuality.
Below the line, Clara Sola also took up film and sound design and took their total winnings at night to five.
Additional winners included A Christmas Story, Hannes Holm’s live-action atising of the popular Swedish novel, which was previously made into an animated film that has become a holiday classic in Sweden. Holm’s version won Best Male Lead for Jonas Karlsson and Best Supporting Actress for Jennie Silfverhjelm.
The award for best female actress was picked by Sofia Kappel for Bella in pleasure, while Best Haircut went to Hanna Lejonqvist and Dino Jonsäter for The most beautiful boy in the world.
Elsewhere, Hogir Hirori won Best Documentary for Sabayawhile a documentary also took the best international film, Jonas Poher Rasmussen’s Escapethe animated hybrid project that became the international Oscars list this year.
The honorary award included director and screenwriter Suzanne Osten, who took home the special Honorary Gold Bug Award, while director, animator and screenwriter Johan Hagelbäck won Gullspira, which draws attention to contributions in films for children.
The Golden Bug trophy, named after the Swedish word for rose beetle, is perhaps the most distinctive prize in the world of film (see picture above).
