Arbitration in labor dispute with Smood failed

The arbitration process between the delivery service Smood and its couriers has failed, according to the union. Unia calls on the cantonal authorities to ensure that the company complies with the legal regulations.
Despite a five-week strike in eleven French-speaking cities, no solution could be found. The canton of Geneva also intended an arbitration procedure, but did not change anything in the labor dispute at the Geneva courier service Smood. This weighed on the unions Unia and Syndicom in a statement on Tuesday.
Unia calls for immediate improvement in working conditions
The trade unions are therefore calling on the company: The central points of contention together to appeal to the Chamber for Collective Labor Relations (CRCT) as an arbitration tribunal.
In addition, Unia and Syndicom expect that Smood will immediately implement at least significant improvements in working conditions that the company has promised. In particular, the couriers concerned denounce low wages, low expenses and inadequate time recording.
