Futsal EURO 2022: Portugal squad | EURO futsal
The national futsal coach, Jorge Braz, called forward Miguel Ângelo, from Sporting, to replace the injured Cardinal in the UEFA Futsal EURO 2022 list, which takes place in the Netherlands from 19 January to 6 February, in Amsterdam and Groningen.
The main highlight of the chosen ones, in addition to the absence of Ricardinho, who said goodbye to the national team last November, had been the return of the Sporting star to the lot, after missing Portugal’s victories at Futsal EURO 2018 and at the 2021 FIFA World Cup due to injury, but once again misfortune came knocking on the 36-year-old’s door. According to the Portuguese Football Federation, the athlete, who scored 97 goals in 127 games for the Portuguese national team, “has a clinical picture of crippling low back pain”.
The current holder of the European trophy team, which had the champion of the 2000018 finals and also the winner of the tournament in Lithuania, started the preparation work for the Portuguese phase of the Futsal EURO in January, at the Portuguese Lions Pavilion Porto Salvo, in Oeiras. Between the 7th and 14th of January, Jorge Braz’s men worked in Rio Maior, where two preparation games are scheduled against North Macedonia, on the 13th and 14th of this month.
The trip to the Netherlands is scheduled for the 16th of January, with the first game in the Futsal EURO finals, against Serbia, on the 19th, in Amsterdam.
