Innsbruck nightlife in need: Cash injection against the club dying
A year ago the Club Commission asked for an aid package of 600,000 euros so that the scene can survive. A support commitment of 150,000 euros followed in the municipal council. However, this was linked to the fact that the state of Tyrol and the Chamber of Commerce also got into the mining boat, but this did not happen.
But now there is finally movement in the matter. As Innsbruck’s mayor Georg Willi (Greens) announced on Wednesday after the city senate, it was decided at the meeting to give the operators the promised 150,000 euros. The distribution key is to be fixed in a work group.
Several eateries closed forever
“I hope that the February municipal council approves it,” said Willi. City Councilor for Culture Uschi Schwarzl (Greens) was delighted: “The club culture is very important for a young city like Innsbruck.”
“In Innsbruck there are already five or six restaurants that have closed,” says Lordick. The corona crisis has already cut a path in the nightlife.
