Pärnu Airport opens route to Helsinki News
“Entrepreneurs from Pärnu have expressed this wish and since we already operate in Finland, we were able to offer them a solution,” Nyaanair’s director Jaanus Ojamets told ERR.
According to Ojamets, an official agreement has not yet been signed, but Nyxair plans to fly between Pärnu and Helsinki from May. Flights would take place twice a week – on Thursdays and Sundays, and would cost around € 60 per ticket.
The director of Nyxair said that the route between Pärnu and Stockholm could not be ruled out either. “We are also interested in operating on the route if it is possible. But so far we have decided to leave the direction of Helsinki. It is easier and cheaper,” the airline’s director said.
Ojamets added that the airline plans to open two new Swedish routes connecting the cities of Kristianstad and Trollhättan to Stockholm Bromma Airport. “Those agreements have been signed and we will be operating on these routes from March,” he said.
Renovated Pärnu Airport in finishing
Tallinn Airport spokeswoman Margot Holts told ERR on Tuesday that the renovation of the passenger terminal at Pärnu Airport was completed at the end of 2021 and that the airport is currently finishing, such as stickers, signs and furniture. “We hope to have all the rooms furnished during February,” Holts said.
A representative of the airport said that the renovation of Pärnu airport cost 18.5 million euros, but allows the airport to expand beyond its only current destination, Ruhnu.
“Flights to Ruhnu have been made since October last year to get people to the mainland also during the winter season. , Holts said.
He added that Pärnu Airport will also receive a new aircraft hangar, which will enable aircraft maintenance services for Airbus 320 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
