the Nuit de la Solidarité is looking for volunteers
The next Solidarity Night, which annually surveys the number of homeless people in the streets of Paris, will take place on the night of January 20 to 21. 2000 volunteers are needed.
Each year, the city of Paris records the number of homeless people who live in the streets of the capital on the occasion of the Night of Solidarity. While the fifth edition of the event will take place on the night of January 20 to 21, the town hall is calling for volunteers. He needs nearly a thousand to complete the operation.
“We are short of volunteers but it is also because we have increased the number of teams in anticipation of some last minute withdrawals with we risk being confronted with the Covid crisis, explains Léa Filoche, deputy at the mayor of Paris in charge of Solidarity, to the Parisian.
On the night of January 20, these volunteers, divided into small groups, roam the streets of the capital. Their mission will not only be to count the people in the street but also to discuss with them to better identify their profile and their needs. The objective of the operation: to improve and adapt the emergency aid systems put in place by the municipality.
Registration to be a volunteer is open to over 18s. A form is available on the site nuit-solidarite.paris.fr.
Last year, 2,785 homeless were identified in Paris, 23% less than in 2020.
