Light art in Liechtenstein – Vorarlberger Nachrichten
Vaduz Anyone who did not know it could already have guessed from the sound, which is a component of Miriam Prantl’s light objects: The Vorarlberg artist (born 1965) also played in a band and realized performances during her studies in London. So she doesn’t always have to team up with musicians to find the right tone for her light objects; she often creates it herself Principality of Liechtenstein the first light art festival will start on January 28th. The cast is prominent, in addition to the Austrians Stefan Kainbacher and Miriam Prantl, the Swiss Klaus Lürzer, Claudia Tolusso and the ensembles VielZuHell and Nachtlicht will be realizing projects; Rogier Van der Heide, an artist from Holland, whose portfolio includes numerous international commissioned works. The designer has worked for renowned museums such as the Tate Modern, as well as for major sports organizers and luxury labels that are represented around the world.
Differentiation from the commercial
“The challenge will be to set oneself apart from business-oriented concepts,” explains Miriam Prantl, who some years ago designed a work for the Kunsthaus Bregenz that could add a filigree work of light art to the stairwell in the Vorarlberg Museum and other art-in-building Implemented projects at home and abroad. One of her special works is a multi-layered light and sound installation on the Bielerhöhe. For the light art festival in Vaduz, she designed an almost four-meter-high sculpture that consists of several rotating spheres, the reflected light of which changes the perception of the place.
