Erick says Portugal is the team everyone wants to avoid at Euro’2022 – Futsal
Erick Mendonça said this Sunday that Portugal is the team that everyone wants to “avoid” in the next Euro’2022 futsal, which will take place in January and February in the Netherlands, a situation that increases the “responsibility” of the current title holders.
“I want to believe and I think, for what we’ve already won, that teams don’t want to play against us or want to avoid us anymore. That comes with responsibility. I know they fear us, but also that they really want us to win. they seek more to avoid us than to win us,” said Erick.
In statements published on the official website of the Portuguese Football Federation, the Sporting player assumes that the Portuguese team is a candidate to win the European Championship again and explained that he starts with some advantage for the competition.
“We don’t have to work again almost from scratch on the processes, because we were together very recently, at the World Cup, it can be a great advantage for us. Portugal is one of the candidates. We know our resources. We know what we’ve already achieved. , but like us, there are other strong candidates to win,” said the 26-year-old universal.
Portugal takes a day off on Monday and returns to work on Tuesday. The cardinal has been training conditioned, due to low back pain, while Bruno Coelho and Zicky have been absent due to testing positive for covid-19.
The European Futsal 2022 will take place in Amsterdam and Groningen, in the Netherlands, from January 19th to February 6th, with 16 teams divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group qualify for the quarter finals.
Portugal, which won the last edition of the competition, in 2018, in Slovenia, is integrated in group A, along with the hosts, Serbia and Ukraine, having its debut scheduled for January 19, against the Serbs, before facing the Netherlands , at 23, and Ukraine, at 28.
