Salzburg waived training camps due to CoV cases
The coronavirus wave does not stop at Red Bull Salzburg. The champions announced on Saturday that six players had delivered positive CoV tests on the same day before the start of training. The athletes are in quarantine and therefore show no or mild symptoms. The team of trainer Matthias Jaissle is now foregoing the training camp originally planned for January 15-22 in Marbella, Spain.
The Bundesliga leaders remain in Salzburg and are preparing for the upcoming spring season here. “We discussed in great detail the advantages and disadvantages of maintaining this training camp. Ultimately, we came to the decision that we want to avoid any risk and therefore prepare in Salzburg. Here we have the greatest planning security and are not dependent on entry and exit guidelines or quarantine regulations of other countries, ”said Salzburg’s sports director Christoph Freund with a view to the rapidly increasing number of infections across Europe.
Replacement opponents are being sought for the two test matches planned in Spain. The club did not want to name six players who were affected by the positive tests, with reference to their privacy.
