Elina Garanca: Live from Salzburg
From the great concerts by Elina Garanca at the Salzburg Festival in 2020 and 2021, the album “Live from Salzburg” has now been released.
It contains, on the one hand, the Wesendonck-Lieder WWV by Richard Wagner and, on the other hand, the “Five songs based on poems by Friedrich Rückert” by Gustav Mahler. When interpreting the art song, which she sees as the “most intimate form of musical expression”, Elina Garanca is always concerned with the intimacy of feeling the lyrics, combined with a sensitivity for poetry.
Seldom also through the suggestive power of her vocal use are so fascinating atmospheric images that are touching in every song. The singer does not know exaggeration. Your wonderful piani enchant every work of art and transmit it to the listener. She always remains – like her appearance – a diva with fine restraint and elegance.
What is able to assert its presence is also the intelligent phrasing arcs in the balance of perfection and beauty of sound. This, too, makes the conductor Christian Thielemann at the podium of the Vienna Philharmonic a silent admirer for long stretches, as if he had nothing more to add to the accompaniment than the Philharmonic glamor of one of the great mezzfühloprane in the music world.
