Cannabis: the Avignon gendarmerie seizes dozens of “Haribeuh” packages
“Haribeuh life is beautiful, there’s weed and teuchi”. Sachets of cannabis stamped with the leitmotif, slightly arranged, of the candy brand were seized, Tuesday, January 4, during an anti-drug operation in Sorgues (Vaucluse), relates France Blue Vaucluse. The surveillance and intervention squad of the Avignon gendarmerie carried out several anti-drug operations in the city of Griffons in Sorgues before discovering these bags inspired by the famous Haribo brand.
“Haribeuh it is not good in our opinion, neither for the big ones nor for the small ones”, wrote, with humor, the gendarmes of the department on their Facebook page. Several hundred euros as well as cocaine were also seized during the operation.
“The company cannot warn the use of Haribo’s notoriety”
For his part, the marketing director of Haribo France, Jean-Noël Michel, reacted on France Bleu Gard Lozère welcoming “a nice sign of the brand’s notoriety and its attractiveness, including for young targets”. He added that Haribo “strongly condemned” and that the company “could not condone the use of Haribo’s notoriety for this kind of prohibited and harmful product”. He promised “legal action if we can identify the person behind this hijacking.”

The traffickers are creative in their marketing strategy. In December 2020, the Morbihan police officers seized sachets of “Dragon ball Z” drugs. In Nantes, last February, “Kinder surprise” packaging was found. Finally, in October, bags bearing the image of the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, were seized in Isère.
