Les joueurs en fin de contrat en 2022
17th in Ligue 1 at mid-season, the Girondins de Bordeaux have been struggling both sportingly and financially for a few years. Difficulties that could intensify in view of the many players at the end of the contract.
They are 7 players to see their contract expire next June. To these are added the 6 players loaned to Bordeaux this season. Girondins leaders therefore have their work cut out for them, to extend some of them and find replacements for others.
Not tenured since the end of August, Jimmy briand is one of the players who will be free in June. At 36 and after 18 seasons at the highest level, it may be time to hang up the crampons. This is also the case for his teammate and compatriot Laurent Koscielny. Established when he is not injured, the captain of the Girondins is also 36 years old and the former Gunners must surely start to think about retirement. Benoit Costil he could still play a few more seasons. The 34-year-old goalkeeper has played every Ligue 1 game this season (and every last season) and is proving he’s still up to par. He is also the second best goalkeeper in Ligue 1 in terms of rescues (61, behind Lopes). A possible free start would severely handicap the Bordelais.
Among the younger players at the end of their contract, the Brazilian Otavio is also part of the list. At 27, the one who has been at the club since 2017 has played 16 games this season. Abdel Medioub will also be free in June. At 24, the Algerian has participated in 6 games this season.
Finally, two young players will also be free in June. Amadou Traore and Dilane Bakwa haven’t had their chance this season. 19 minutes of play for one, 5 minutes for the other, the two 19-year-old wingers could well decide to leave the Gironde to find playing time elsewhere.
To this list of players can be added that of those loaned from the Girondins side and who will return to their club next July: Alberth Elis, Ricardo Mangas, Javairo Dilrosun, Yacine Adli, Gideon Mensah and Timothée Pembélé.
