2.1 million LED lamps: Christmas in Lisbon
According to the City Council of Lisbon, the lights will remain on until the Day of the Three Kings in 50 places in the city, most of them concentrated in the Baixa, but also in arteries such as the avenues Almirante Reis, da República and Uruguay or such as streets of Belém, Morais Soares and Pascoal de Melo.
In total, we are talking about 800 installations and about 2.1 million LED lamps, in a total of more than 200 kilometers of lights, which aim to liven up the city’s streets, but also attract customers to traditional commerce, so punished due to the pandemic and the consequent lack of visitors, mainly tourists.
Anyone who hasn’t been to Lisbon to see how Christmas lights can get it from Sunday to Thursday from 5:30 pm to midnight and between Friday and Saturday from 5:30 pm to 1:00 am. For December 2022, if all goes well, the New Year’s Eve party will be held at Terreiro do Paço. This year, the chamber, in addition to canceling the New Year’s celebrations, also suspended the traditional fireworks display in that square.
