What if you saw Lisbon flying on a catwalk? – Night
Through a virtual reality simulator, it will be possible to feel that you are really flying. You will be able to visit some of the most iconic monuments in Lisbon, Sintra and Cascais, seen from a very different perspective. This experience high in the clouds, which involves the latest technology, will be available at the Lisbon Story Center museum, in Praça do Comércio.
A new experience, available at the Lisbon Story Center museum, will allow you to fly over Lisbon’s historic areas and monuments, such as Praça do Comércio, São Jorge Castle, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Tower of Belém, but not only that. You will also be able to see the Cascais Bay and the Palácio da Pena, as you never imagined. All this is possible through the virtual reality simulator that, through footage made with drone, gives the feeling of being above the clouds, while enjoying the city from above.
Bernardo Nogueira and Rui Machado, managing partners of the project, explain that the idea arose when two remembered the invention of the catwalk, by Bartolomeu Gusmão, in the 18th century. Coincidentally, there was a replica of the invention in the museum, right next to the room where they were. This idea was supposedly presented to King João V and, later, was immortalized in the Memorial do Convento, written by José Saramago. It is Bartholomew who welcomes visitors who come to his workshop to live this experience.
A so-called “flying machine” consists of a hydraulic platform with three axes, which follows the movements of the flight. With this project, in which the project managers have already invested around 400 thousand euros, I receive 50 thousand visitors a year. They guarantee that whoever wants to visit them can count on “a totally immersive experience, where they feel they have entered another dimension.”
