Without Salzburg, 1,907 new infections and 42 fatalities
According to this, there were double counts of some Omikron cases in Salzburg, with 621 too many new infections were reported. The Salzburg regional staff reports to the ministry that no more current figures can be delivered from Salzburg on Tuesday. Correct figures should be presented on Wednesday.
Another 42 fatalities were registered across Austria. Thus, in the almost 22 months of the pandemic in this country, 13,538 people have already died as a result of an infection. The war on Tuesday slightly increased the number of infected people in the hospital. There were still 1,705 Covid-19 patients in hospitals across Austria. That was 56 less than the day before. 477 seriously ill people are in intensive care units, one less than Monday. Within a week, the number of intensive care patients across Austria fell by 88.
In western Austria, however, the occupancy rate is still very high. According to AGES, 31 percent of the available intensive care beds in Tyrol are occupied by Covid patients, in Vorarlberg it is even 35 percent. That is above the system-critical utilization limit of 33 percent. In Tyrol there were 58 seriously ill patients in intensive care units on Tuesday, less than 50 were last on November 27 with 48. Vorarlberg reported 25 seriously ill. Most recently, a month ago – on November 21 – fewer than 20 people with 16 corona infected were treated in intensive care units.
The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is also Vorarlberg with 385.2, and Tyrol and Carinthia (321.8 and 221.1 respectively). Upper Austria (209.7), Styria (187.3), Lower Austria (186.6), Vienna (175) and Burgenland (120.6) follow.
As of Tuesday there were 38,964 confirmed active cases in Austria. Vienna reported 345 new infections on Tuesday, Upper Austria 338 and Tyrol 332. Lower Austria recorded 253 more infected people, Styria 241 and Vorarlberg 208. 133 cases were registered in Carinthia and 57 in Burgenland. There have been 1,253,961 confirmed cases in Austria since the start of the pandemic . 1,201,459 people are considered to have recovered.
The number of Covid deaths in Austria is still very high. Since Monday alone, 42 have been reported, a seven-day average it was 36.6 a day. In the past week, 256 people died as a result of an infection. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 13,538 deaths in Austria since the outbreak, which is already 151.6 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.
71,231 vaccinations were carried out across Austria on Monday. Ten percent of them were first stitches and 68 percent were third stitches. According to the data in the e-vaccination pass, a total of 6,560,823 people have already received at least one vaccination. Exactly 6,232,055 people and thus 69.8 percent of Austrians have valid vaccination protection.
The vaccination rates according to age group: 65.6 percent of the 12 to 24 year olds have a valid vaccination certificate, in the 25 to 34 age group the rate is 70.5 percent and for the 35 to 44 year olds 74.2 percent. 76.5 percent of people between 45 and 54 years of age are demonstrably protected against Covid-19 with a certificate, 83.7 percent in the 55 to 64 group. The 65 to 74-year-olds have a quote of 87.2 percent who 75- to 84-year-olds 90.4 percent and the group 85plus 85 percent. 3.4 percent is reported for children up to eleven years of age.
The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland at 75.1 percent. In Lower Austria, 71.6 percent of the population have valid vaccination protection, in Styria 69.7 percent. After Vienna (68.9), Tyrol (68.6), Vorarlberg (67.1), Carinthia (66.5) and Salzburg (66.4), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 65.5 percent.
