Mikis Theodorakis honored by concert performances in Sweden – Greek City Times
Two concerts with works by a composer Mikis Theodorakis for the promotion of modern Greek culture took place on 12 and 13 December in the Swedish cities of Stockholm and Gothenburg.
The concerts were organized respectively with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) as the major sponsor, according to an announcement on Monday.
The concerts were arranged by Medelhavets Produktion & Events at Göta Lejonteatern in the Swedish capital (1,100 seats) and at Lisebergs Teatern in Gothenburg (510 seats), as part of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.
Mikis Theodorakis Orchestra and artists Dimitris Bassis and Rita Antonopoulou participated.
The members of the delegation were accompanied by the composer’s daughter, Margarita Theodoraki.
The event was attended by the family of Olof Palme, Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Sweden, the Italian Embassy’s representative, the Riksdag’s adviser on international issues and senior officials from the Swedish tourism organizations and media.
