Letter to the editor – Statement on the demonstration on Monday
Before the demonstration began on December 20th, Dr. Johannes Jung, Pastor of the Evangelical Church in the Principality of Liechtenstein, the “Volksblatt” read the following lines:
Apparently Lothar Mack is invited. His activity in the Reformed Church Heiden ended at the end of 2016. Since then, my knowledge has not been active as a pastor. The official title would therefore be misleading. In any case, I want to emphasize that there was no contact between Mr. Mack and my church. The xenophobic, Islamophobic, right-wing extremist views he advocates are not only not shared by me, but abhorred.
His participation in this demonstration shows once again that the organizers are not afraid to bring in speakers from right-wing populist or even radical circles. There may be many different opinions about the corona measures taken by European governments. I have to accept that, even if I do not share the opinions expressed at those demonstrations. But my tolerance ends when fantasies take the place of information, other people are hounded, individuals and a whole society are exposed to dangers or even inhuman ideologies are spread. If religious acts, here revealing a “Christmas blessing”, are misused for such contemptuous ideas, this limits the limits of what is bearable for me.
Dr. Johannes Jung, pastor of the Evangelical Church in the Principality of Liechtenstein
