Christmas blue light spectacle for sick children
Cologne Children who die in hospital over Christmas suffer twice as much. With a silent blue light greeting, emergency services in Cologne try to make the stay of the little patients easier.
Flashing cars and shining eyes: the emergency services organized a blue light spectacle for the little patients of a children’s clinic in Cologne. With the message “We haven’t forgotten you”, more than 30 police, fire and armed forces vehicles gather on Sunday to distract the children from everyday hospital life.
These included a police car from the USA and a vintage fire department car. In order not to alarm anyone unnecessarily, the emergency services would have to do without sirens, said a spokeswoman.
In addition to the flood of blue lights, the little ones were thrilled by a police robot that was almost three meters tall. A Santa Claus distributed gifts in advance. At the end of the blue light operation, a voluntary association gave a Christmas concert.
