Two out of three Portuguese believe that Portugal is prepared to fight covid-19, according to data from a survey carried out by Pytagórica for TVI and CNN Portugal, which reveals that only 3% of the surveys consider that the country is not prepared at all. in this domain.
When asked about the country’s preparation to fight covid-19, the majority of respondents (63%) said they believed that Portugal is well prepared, while 8% considered it to be very well prepared and only 4% said the country is fully prepared .

Regarding the severity of covid-19, 4% of the surveys consider the disease to be much less severe than what was said, and 21% say it is less severe. Regarding the measures to combat the pandemic that they would approve or reject, the vast majority of respondents (89%) would approve the imposition of telework, while 83% would support the mandatory use of masks in the street, in contrast to the 16% who would reject this option .
Furthermore, 69% of inquiries would approve the closure of bars and clubs, in contrast to the 27% who would reject this measure. Regarding the ban on New Year’s Eve parties, 68% of respondents admitted to supporting this measure.
On the other hand, 66% of the surveys would not put the closing of schools and distance learning on the table, a measure that was supported by only 29% of the surveys.
The closure of restaurants on weekends in municipalities with a high number of covid-19 cases and the possibility of spending Christmas without a direct family are among the measures that cannot be approved by the surveys, in addition to the ban on travel between municipalities on weekends. long weekends.
In analyzing these data, psychiatrist Vítor Cotovia considered, in statements to CNN Portugal, that “there is a good reception of communication” about covid-19 in Portugal, which reveals “some good sense” of the Portuguese.

On the other hand, pulmonologist Carlos Robalo Cordeiro pointed out that communication about covid-19 in Portugal “has been happening, at times, in a more erratic and not as coherent manner” as would be desirable.
