On Saturday 11 December in Caorle in the province of Venice, the 2nd Gold National Team of rhythmic gymnastics took place, the last competition scheduled on the Italian 2021 calendar.
The San Marino Gymnastics Federation is presented with its team in the Open category consisting of Gloria Ambrogiani, Gioia Casali, Giulia Casali, Lucia Castiglioni, Annalisa Giovannini, Camilla Rossi and Matilde Tamagnini, accompanied by the technician Federica Protti and the president Fabrizio Castiglioni. The blue and white athletes took to the platform first by proposing a mixed exercise, 3 balls and 2 tapes, and, comparing themselves with fifteen other delegations, they obtained the qualification for the final, reaching the 8 best teams. In the final the girls kept their concentration high and with grit and determination, after a nice and clean performance, they improved their qualifying score, finishing the race in fifth place with a score of 18,450. The national title in the Open category was won by the Estense Putinati club from Ferrara.
It had been five years since a San Marino team had not appeared at the Italian Overall Championship. The project started in August, with the seven athletes selected by the Federal Technical Director, Dwarfs Londaridze, has led to excellent results. Despite the difficulties of the period and the participation of some individual gymnasts in international competitions, the preparation of the team never stopped. They continued with the reserves on a daily basis, testifying to great affinity and good teamwork, fundamental qualities for reaching goals.
The Federal Council is satisfied with the project supported and takes the opportunity to express its esteem to all the gymnasts who have never spared themselves and in particular to thank the athletes from the heart. Giulia Casali And Lucia Castiglioni who, for thirteen years Giulia and sixteen Lucia, have excellently represented San Marino both nationally and internationally and that after this last test with their companions, have communicated their retirement from competitive activity.
