Portugal registers maximum weekly testing to Covid-19
Of these, around 337,967 were PCR tested and approximately 656,486 were Rapid Antigen Tests (TRAg) for professional use, a daily average of more than 142,000 tests performed during this period.
In the week of December 1-16, the daily average had been 127,000 tests.
Since the beginning of the month, Portugal has registered numbers of daily testing in excess of 100,000 tests in 12 of the 16 days already counted, with December 10 being the day on which, according to data, the most tests were carried out: 197,718.
Rapid antigen tests were again free as of November 19, a measure that now covers the entire population (four free tests per month per person). The measure is intended to help control the pandemic.
“The reactivation of the exceptional and temporary TRAg reimbursement scheme aims to contribute to the early detection and isolation of cases, preventing and mitigating the impact of
SARS-CoV-2 infection in health services and in vulnerable populations, as well as reducing and controlling the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 infection and monitoring the epidemiological evolution of COVID-19”, referee the communiqué from the task force of testing.
