Portugal already offers essential flight with Mozambique | Covid-19
Portugal offers the suspension of essential flights with Mozambique since 00:00 this Saturday, after trips were canceled due to the new variant of the covid-19, the Ómicron.
oh dispatch, published this friday in Republic Diary, amends the previous order, of 30 November, “raising the suspension of air traffic to Mozambique and determining compliance with the prophylactic isolation of passengers from some southern African countries”.
The document allowed permission for “essential travel” to and from a list of countries that includes South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe. The order also states that passengers on these flights, as well as passengers who, regardless of origin, present a passport with an exit record in the 14 days prior to arrival in Portugal from previous previous countries must comply, after entering mainland territory, with “a period 14 days of prophylactic isolation, at home or in a place indicated by the health authorities”.
The prophylactic isolation period “ends for those who have a negative result in a nucleic acid amplification test (TAAN) or rapid antigen test (TRAg) performed on the third day”. This isolation period is not applicable to passengers who stay in Portugal for a maximum period of 48 hours.
These measures are also extensible, “with the necessary adaptations, to citizens who enter the national territory by sea or land”.
The order, issued by the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, the Minister of National Defence, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Minister of Health and the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, “takes into effect at 00:00 on the day following the day. your publication”.
Last week, the minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, had already announced that regular flights with Mozambique were going to resume and that the government was preparing the respective dispatch.
