The only exception is the autonomous region of the Azores, which is painted yellow, which corresponds to the third most severe parameter. The continent is, in turn, painted a dark red, after in February it is already in this category.
The continent and Madeira join a Europe in which red is the predominant color. The situation remains less favorable in the center of the continent, in countries like Austria, Slovakia or the Czech Republic, which are at extreme risk. These are joined by territories such as Denmark, Greece or Ireland.
Even in Spain and Italy, the state of the pandemic is getting worse. Most regions of these countries are painted orange., in the second most serious category.
However, the pandemic situation appears to be improving in Northern and Eastern Europe. Estonia and Latvia emerged from extreme risk, while Romania even has some regions in green, in the least serious parameter.
ECDC’s map combines Covid-19 case notification rates over the past 14 days, number of tests performed and total positives, and updated weekly on Thursday to assist Member States on restrictions to be applied to travel within the community space.
This map by the European agency follows a system of traffic lights on the spread of Covid-19 in the EU, starting with green (favorable situation), passing through orange and red (very dangerous situation), helping member states on restrictions to be applied to travel within the community space.
