White Christmas in Salzburg: Where there are opportunities
After intense snowfalls in the past few weeks, there is not much left of the white splendor around the city of Salzburg. Instead it is often cloudy and foggy. It will continue like this for the next few days, explains Ubimet-Meteorologist Thomas Aistleitner in an interview with SALZBURG24.
Cloudy prospects around Mozartstadt
Especially in Flachgau and northern Tennengau, it remains very cloudy until Saturday due to the ground fog and the many clouds. On the other hand, things should be a little friendlier in Pinzgau, Pongau and northern Lungau: The sun can come through here. “
No fresh snow in sight
There will probably be no fresh snow in Salzburg in the coming days, predicts the meteorologist. On Thursday it could drizzle at most in Flachgau. “If so, then light snowfalls are only possible on Saturday night in southern Tennengau and in Pongau.”
Where is there a white Christmas?
And what does that mean for a white Christmas now? These are becoming increasingly rare across Austria. In Salzburg there was snow around the Christmas holidays on December 26th, 2014. This year the forecasts are still associated with many uncertainties, but at least around the city of Salzburg, the Flachgau and the northern Tennengau. There will be no closed snow cover, ”says the expert.
Chances remain in Pinzgau and Pongau
Unlike in previous years, however, it remains rather cool around Christmas with maximum temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees. “We tend to move away from the Christmas thaw. The snow that is already there, including in the Alpine valleys, will likely hold up.
