The top 3 of the city of Caen’s biggest investments for 2022

Monday, December 13, 2021, during the municipal council of the City of Caen (Calvados) in particular, the initial 2022 budget of the municipality will be presented.
The original 2022 budget of the City of Caen
The original 2022 budget is balanced in expenditure and revenue at 191.6 million euros against 183.7 million in 2021, i.e. an increase of 4.3% of overall expenditure. With 128.2 million euros in actual operating expenses and 46.6 million euros in real investment expenses.
- The transformation of the Lorge district
The city’s biggest investment for 2022 is the rehabilitation of the Lorge district and the transformation of the stables. The municipality is investing in 2022: 2,750,000 euros.
The works must begin at the beginning of the year 2022 for a delivery at the end of 2023-beginning of 2024. The total cost of the works amounts to 4 million euros.
A cultural and artistic center will be created in this district located between the streets of Bayeux and Caponière. It will include: the Frac Normandie Caen, the Cité Théâtre and the Studio 24 (formerly Panta Théâtre).
2. Change at the Lycée Victor Hugo
Among the other major expenses of the City in 2022, that for 2 million euros linked to the renovation of the school canteen at the Lycée Victor Hugo. The investment also concerns business premises accessible to neighborhood residents. This is a project shared with the Regional Council of Normandy.
3. A synthetic field in southern Caen
The City is investing 1,060,000 euros for synthetic land south of Caen. It will be located in the Grace of God district, between the BMX field and the swimming pool. Delivery is scheduled for August 2022.
A synthetic pitch allows you to increase the time spent on the pitch but also to have a response solution when it rains. Three existing synthetic pitches in Caen: in Venoix, Chemin-Vert and Folie-Couvrechef.

In 2022, the City of Caen will focus a lot of its investments on the renovations of schools. Thus, all cumulative, the investments amount to 1,020,000 euros. The same amount is allocated for the coming year to the restructuring of the Chemin Vert district, in particular the construction of a building to accommodate associations, rue de Berry.
