Cracow. The dance of the dead class. “Kantor. Burza” returns to the boards of Cricoteka
The work of Tadeusz Kantor with an innovative mindset: painting, theater, and happening. Perhaps a derivative association will be the Cricoteka building, towering over the Vistula boulevards – a place devoted to the heritage of “the most Polish artist in the world”. Does anyone ever have time to do the dance?

Sławek Krawczyński and Anna Godowska undertook the universal effectiveness of the search for Kantor with dance theater. The source material for the backbreaking task was the artist’s wide spectrum: from texts, through painting, drawings, emballages, happenings, to fragments of rehearsals and performances. Such a wealth of sources, themes and threads – after all, it would be unfair to close Kantor only within the Theater of Death – forced a new interpretative trail. As Godowska emphasizes, the Orphic myth became the direction leading into art:
In one of his texts, Jan Kott compared Kantor to Charon, transporting people through the water of the Styx. In my opinion, who could be real players, who would be Kantor Orpheus, who with his own, not only symbolically, but directly and conclusively – that is, who directly and against another man – would be won by man against another man – Death. It is more than an artistic gesture.
The performance “Kantor. Burza” by the Krawczyński and Godowska duo is a dance journey into the depths of Tadeusz Kantor’s world. Paris is becoming a teacher for teachers thanks to the experience of artists who have used developed, original methods of work. Mindella, which consists in penetrating into rehearsals, making tests of the world by means of working without unconsciousness, carrying out content hidden there, often surprising.
At the same time, the way and structure of the work and the presentation are reminiscent of the previous projects of the two artists Nijinsky. Feast of Dreams, Bataille and the Dawn of New Days, Simone. – each of them referred to a real person, their life and work. In this way, “Kantor. Storm“is part of the search program of Krawczyński and Godowska, a duo known to the dance world for their productions recognized only in Poland, but also on stages.
The production was inspired not only by the works that Tadeusz Kantor left behind, but also by updating to the theater of action: “Kantor.
In 1990 – as far as I remember – I watched the play “I’ll never come back here again” at the Warsaw club “Stądła” by Kantor. Even today, after so many years, I am not able to perform in Warsaw during a performance at that time and with a physical experience, which has something of ecstasy in it, in which laughter, tragedy, throbbing and rhythmicity of life and its horror turn into an inseparable whole. inspirations that led me to the methods of working with dreams and searching. “Cantor. The storm “is the closure of a beautiful state. There is something in something in good condition that a correction is a tribute, what’s what you want, what you want, what you have now for an artist, you can do something we do.
So what is it for the viewer “Kantor. Storm“? and sleep. The show by Godowska and Krawczyński reinterprets the Cricot 2 Theater, refers to his works: “Dead Class” or “Wielopole Wielopola” and, drawing on the tradition of Kantor’s great work, confronts them with dance qualities.
relations that made the unpredictable situation difficult (preparation of the show about the situation) (the preparation of the show was arranged in the preparation of the year), to everything that led the audience to be able to form with “Kantor. Burza”. Usually shown will take place already December 15 and 16 at Cricotekaand on December 20 at the Cultural Center in Lublin.
