Russia’s aggression has caused a humanitarian crisis in the occupied territories
At the meeting of the UN General Assembly, the Ukrainian delegation informed the world community about the humanitarian crisis that has arisen in the temporarily occupied territories of our country.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent in New York, this is stated in the statement of the Ukrainian delegation, which was made at the session of the General Assembly by the Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine to the UN Yuri Vitrenko.
“As in all recent years, we are forced to draw the attention of the General Assembly to the humanitarian crisis in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation,” the statement said.
The need is noted that due to the blocking of checkpoints by the occupying power, which is criminally covered up by measures to combat COVID-19, citizens of Ukraine in uncontrolled territories can not access basic needs and services.
However, the epidemic situation, as well as food security in these areas, remain extremely difficult.
In this regard, the Ukrainian government calls on the UN and international humanitarian organizations to intensify the monitoring of medical services – “if any” – in the occupied territories and reports all violations of human rights to life and health.
Vitrenko reminded that the Government of Ukraine is taking the necessary measures to minimize the humanitarian consequences of external aggression and simplify the relevant administrative procedures. correctly, the strategy of economic development and Luhansk region and the strategy of integration of internally displaced persons were approved.
Also last year, a program of reintegration of young people from the temporarily occupied territories was presented, aimed at realizing the right of migrants to quality higher education. From this year, there are relevant preparatory courses with scholarships, the statement said. Digitization and online access to services for internally displaced persons and residents of the temporarily occupied territories are being digitized.
It is noted that in order to solve the whole range of humanitarian problems caused by foreign aggression, Ukraine has further expanded its goal with UN agencies and other international humanitarian organizations. This, the statement said, requires active support from international partners of the UN Humanitarian Response Plan for Ukraine for 2022.
As reported, the UN Humanitarian Response Plan for Ukraine for 022 was presented on November 30. It states that next year 2.9 million victims of the conflict in the east of our country need help. $ 190 million is needed to implement the Plan.
