The Soroptimist Club San Marino celebrates the World Human Rights Day in the sign of the continuity of the 16 days of activism
Collaborating in the program of initiatives supported by the Authority for Equal Opportunities in the period from 25 November, the international day against violence against women, to 10 December, the international day of human rights, constitutes a duty for the Soroptimist Single Club of San Marino. unavoidable to testify to its active commitment to the fight against violence and the defense of rights, also in compliance with the 2021 theme, EQUALITY – Reduce inequalities, promote human rights.
The immediately perceptible sign of this commitment is the orange lighting of the Third Tower or Montale and the flagpole of the entrance portal to the Customs State border, in adherence to the Orange the world campaign promoted for some years by Soroptimist Europe and in collaboration with the State Company and the State Secretariats.
The most tangible testimony is represented instead by the realization of “A room for you” at the Command of the Gendarmerie Corps, via JF Kennedy, San Marino City, inaugurated on 8 March last. It is a safe place where saying no to violence is easier, where it is possible to find an encouraging and protected environment and a less traumatic approach with law enforcement officers when you turn to them to report acts. persecution, mistreatment, stalking and any other violent act.
To remind the victims and all women of the existence of this space and to talk to the citizens, for the second time in this period and on the day of December 10 from 11:00 it will be possible to visit it and with the managers of the service and some of us Soroptimists.
Our commitment does not end because other initiatives will be put in place in the coming months: the first will be an online conference open to the public during which our company Kristina Pardalos, member of the Guarantor College of the Constitutionality of San Marino Norms will deal with the topic
“Violence against women and the protection offered by the European Court of Human Rights”
with particular to some cases of the ECHR that concern the various forms of violence, as well as the obligations, positive and negative, that member states have at their disposal to exercise protection.
