Port of Lisbon has new webcam: Tejo and banks live from Cacilhas | Lisbon
In spring, the Administration dthe Port of Lisbon debuted the Tejo Live project with a first webcam broadcasting in real time from the 7th floor of the traffic control tower in Algés. With plans to expand to the entire estuary, the second chamber has now arrived, this time installed in Cacilhas.
“A 24/7 free service with images and global vision”, covering “an area between the 25 de Abril Bridge and the Vasco da Gama Bridge, including the terminals in the port area on the north bank of the port of Lisbon”, summarizes the Administration of the Port of Lisbon (APL).
Offering “a wide angle of view of the river and both banks”, the camera allows for riverside life and the movement of ships entering and leaving the port, but also gives other immediate information: we can easily “check as weather conditions, status of the sea, or follow nautical events of public interest”.
The Tejo Live project is an initiative launched by APL and the webcams have a 32x zoom capability and night vision; running 24 hours and the images are practically in real time (there is an induced delay of 30 seconds), without recording or storing the transmitted images. Some focused points died having a legend with identification of local places.
At the launch of the project, it was stated that the objective is to “broaden the Tagus Live to the entire area of the Tagus estuary under APL’s jurisdiction, through the installation of more webcams”.
