Interrupted US trip – will handle the power crisis in Norway
Minister of Petroleum and Energy Marte Mjøs Persen (AP) on Monday night interrupted her tour of the US east coast with HRH Crown Prince Haakon and two other ministers to deal with the electricity crisis at home in Norway.
The reason is that one of the minister’s state secretaries is affected by a corona – closed kindergarten, and must stay at home for the next few days.
– Due to a corona-closed kindergarten in Oslo, her secretary of state must be at home with the children, and he is less operative in the ongoing work with measures related to the high electricity prices, says communications manager for the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, Arvid Samland, to TV 2.
– Marte has only one state secretary and he has been central in the work with electricity measures. So when he has to stay home, Marte has to return to take over the job he has done while she has been here, Samland adds.
