Rally against violence against women in Geneva

Around a hundred people gathered for a demonstration against sexual violence on the Place Bel-Air in Geneva on Thursday evening. The city’s women’s strike collective called for the rally on the occasion of the international day against violence against women.
One speaker recalls that 25 women have already been killed by their partners in Switzerland this year. At the same time, the organizers emphasize that femicides are only the tip of the iceberg. Many women are exposed to humiliation and harassment and are constantly monitored by their partner in everyday life. Others suffered physical or psychological violence.
On the occasion of the International Day against Violence against Women, buildings were illuminated in orange in several places in Switzerland. In the city of Bern, there are several embassies involved in the campaign, including the representation of the European Union.
There will also be a rally on the Kasernenstrasse in Zurich on Thursday evening. This led to a diversion of tram traffic on lines 3 and 14.
