Copper business: the vegan fast food chain has arrived in Portugal
The brand’s first space opened in Príncipe Real. He’s going to Porto soon. There are hamburgers and salads, all herbal.
“The largest plant-based chain in the world”, is how a Copper Branch is assumed. The description is not local Portuguese brand. There we read that it will open soon in Portugal, but the truth is that the various proposals for this concept can already be proven in Príncipe Real. The inauguration took place last Sunday, November 21st. There are hamburgers, salads and more, all 100 percent vegetable.
“More flavorful and environmentally friendly, a copper branch is much more than a restaurant. From fantastic smoothies to delicious hamburgers and bowls”, they explain in a publication in their page of Instagram. The Lisbon restaurant is located at number 238 Rua de O Século. For Porto, a space for the Trindade area is already promised.
The brand emerged in 2014 in Canada. After several spaces in the country, it moved towards internationalization in 2018. First in the United States and then in Europe. It has nine restaurants in France and two in Belgium.
The opening in Portugal is part of the continuation of the brand’s expansion process. They hope to close the year with another 150 new ones check and those in Lisbon and Porto count towards these numbers. The concept is the same and works the same in all countries. There is no table service, as in any self-respecting fast food project.
After ordering at the counter, it is possible to have the meal at one of the tables. There are options for any time of day: for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As a rule, it is a concept that easily adapts to food courts in shopping centers. In Portugal, at least, the two well-known spaces face directly onto the street.
Burgers are one of the most popular options in the chain. There’s the oven-roasted portobello mushroom, zucchini, caramelized onion and vegan cheese; black beans, sunflower seeds, peas and brown rice; or the breaded beetroot with guacamole and lettuce.
The bowls also look good on photos to share on social media. It can be characterized by Asian Fusion (with edamame, broccoli, beans, chickpeas and sesame seeds); or by Aztec (with oil and basil sauce, sweet potatoes, black beans, carrots and pumpkin seeds).
Sandwiches are served on ciabatta bread (adapted to keto and gluten-free diets) or in wraps. There is one with zucchini, sweet potatoes, vegan cheese, caramelized onion and mango sauce, and another with carrot falafels, sunflower seeds, saffron and fresh mint.
To accompany all this there are necessary vitamins: with organic cocoa, strawberry, spinach, cinnamon and soy drink; or with raspberry, blueberry, coconut spinach and vanilla drink or with spinach, banana, ginger, lemon and orange juice.
For breakfast, bagels are a possibility. There are several fillings to order: lettuce, tomato and vegan bacon; and the vegan hamburger with mushrooms and tomatoes, are some examples. There are also toasts with beans, olive oil, lemon and pink salt from the Himalayas or overnight oatmeal with blueberries and mango.
In desserts a logical plan based on maintains itself. There’s the chocolate brownie made with zucchini, but also an oven-baked New York-style chesecake (made with a non-dairy cheese).
