Portugal will receive 545 million euros in 2022 through the React-EU program – O Jornal Económico
Of the 11 million euros that the program of assistance to the recovery for cohesion and the territories of Europe (React-EU) has allocated to the Member States of the European Union (EU), 545 million owe Portugal to Portugal. The aim is to help the countries in the bloc recover economically and socially from the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
React-EU wants to “support the economic and social recovery from the coronavirus crisis”, promote recovery from the crisis and increase the resilience of the health sector and companies and provide “more support to the most vulnerable groups”. At the same time, the European Commission hopes that priority will be given to digital and sustainable transformation, in order to achieve a “smart and cohesive” recovery.
It will now be up to the Member States to send the respective cohesion policy programs for 2021 and 2022 to the European Commission, with an expiration date until the end of 2023. These funds will add to the almost 40 million euros made available in 2021.
Once these changes are approved, Member States can gain access to the new features from 1 January 2022. React-EU is part of NextGenerationEU and will provide €50.6 million of additional funding (at current prices) .
