Italy day at Expo, Minister Di Maio visits the San Marino pavilion
“Relations between Italy and San Marino are going very well”. Thus the Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio that today, after inaugurating the National Day of Italy at Expo Dubai, visited the San Marino Pavilion. After the condolences for the loss of Mauro Maiani, followed the volunteers on a short tour of the San Marino halls, accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Nicola Lener, and the Commissioner General of Italy, Paolo Glisenti. The whole Expo today was tinged with green, white and red.
After the flag raising and the national anthems, Minister Di Maio spoke from Al Wasl stage, underlining how universal exhibitions are opportunities for investments, trade and tourism, how the Italian presence in Dubai is perfectly in line with the legacy of Expo Milano 2015 and relaunching the Rome’s candidacy for Expo 2030, under the theme “The horizontal city, urban regeneration and civil society”. Instead, it was the Carabinieri who inaugurated the celebrations and presented the country to the eyes of the world, in a square in Al Wasl not very crowded this morning, despite the fact that the Italian Pavilion is one of the most visited, neglecting five hundred thousand people.
“Bello brings people together”, beauty unites people “, the central theme. A particular pavilion, the Italian one, designed by architects Carlo Ratti and Italo Rota: a concept, more than an exhibition space; a journey, or rather a story, which starts from Mediterranean, like the boats that cover the roof of the structure, through Italian ingenuity and creativity, in all fields, from culture to innovation. The day continued with bilateral meetings, a visit to the hosts’ pavilion, which also moves thanks to Italian excellence, a good example of connection, and a workshop between Italian institutional representatives and potential Emirati investors.
Minister Di Maio, on the sidelines of the celebrations, wanted to reiterate that i bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates they continue, in a climate of collaboration “even in a very frank way” – he added – “on everything we have to settle”, referring to the diplomatic incident between Rome and Abu Dhabi last summer.Teatro alla Scala Academy, with his young talents directed by Donato Renzetti, in a tribute to the great Italian opera tradition.
