In full rush hour, Monday November 22 around 6 p.m., a motorist engaged in a mad race, on the boulevards and in the Fondaudège district, in Bordeaux.
It all started on Boulevard du Président-Wilson. Police officers on motorcycles see the driver of a car driving on a lane reserved for buses. They signal him to stop but the man refuses and accelerates. The bikers at his heels, he fled towards the rue Fondaudège. Caught in traffic, he tries to force his way by playing autotamponneuses. He unbalances a policeman in pursuit who gets off his motorbike. He also knocks down the pilot of a scooter passing by. An officer uses his weapon and fires several shots. The fugitive continues with a flat tire. Rue Rosa-Bonheur, he abandoned his car and fled on foot. Caught up, he is arrested.
The man, in his fifties, lacking a permit and already known to the courts, was placed in police custody for “violence with a weapon by destination on the person holding the State”. The measure was extended by the prosecution on November 23. The overthrown policeman was given five days of incapacity for work (ITT). A motorist was also injured and got away with three days of ITT. The scooter pilot, he got back on his two-wheeler and did not register with the investigators.
