RB Salzburg remains the undefeated leader of the table – 12th man
RB Salzburg has been the measure of all things in the Austrian Bundesliga for several years. Of course, this is also due to the large investments made by the lemonade manufacturer Red Bull. As a result, RB Salzburg has much better opportunities compared to the other clubs in the Bundesliga. This means that Salzburg can easily afford some players, which is priceless for all other clubs in Austria. This special position has several advantages for Red Bull Salzburg in the Austria Admiral Bundesliga, but on the other hand & die Salzburger also let successful coaches and aspiring young super talents leave. Nevertheless, RB Salzburg manages to dominate the Bundesliga in Austria again and again.
Jesse Marsch and some top performers have left the club
Before this season there was once again a strong bloodletting at RB Salzburg. Because on the one hand you had to let the trainer Jesse Marsch move to the sister club RB Leipzig and the Salzburg team also had to cope with the departures of physical players such as Patson Daka, Enock Mwepu and Mergim Berisha.
To be able to compensate for these painful departures again this season. After 14 league games so far, RB Salzburg are again absolutely sovereign at the top of the table.
RB Salzburg uses the Austrian Bundesliga at will
at RB Salzburg the young German coach Matthias Jaissle took over the coaching position before the start of the season. He was previously responsible for the so-called farm team of RB Salzburg, the second division club FC Liefering. Jaissle made such a strong impression there that the offices in Salzburg decided in favor of the young German head coach Jaissle as Jesse Marsch’s successor.
So far it seems to have been an optimal choice. After all, RB Salzburg is at the top of the table by a large margin with an unbelievable 38 points from 14 league games. In total, Salzburg have already had 12 wins and two draws in the Bundesliga. Red Bull Salzburg have not yet suffered a defeat, at least in their domestic league.
With this terrific run, RB Salzburg already has a 14 point lead over Wolfsberger AC, second in the table. However, third-placed Sturm Graz has played one game less and could move up to fifteen points to the Austrian series champions and climb to second place in the table if they win in the catch-up game.
Red Bull Salzburg only dropped two points
Also in this season it seems to be impossible to score against Salzburg again. Despite this, RB Salzburg had to be content with a draw twice in the course of this season.
For the first time, RB Salzburg could not leave the field as the winner this season in the Bundesliga in mid-October when SCR Altach had to come to terms with a 1-1 draw on the 11th match day. In this game, Noah Okafor gave Salzburg a 1-0 lead in the 9th minute of the game, but just five minutes later goalkeeper Phillip Köhn had to accept the equalizer. In the further course of the game Salzburg were the dominant team, but failed to ensure the possible away success with further goals.
A second time not enough for a win for RB Salzburg in the domestic league then in the last league game in October, when they again couldn’t get past a draw away from home. In this turbulent game, Salzburg initially fell behind, but can then turn the game around with goals from Chikwubuike Adamu and Noah Okafor. But from the point of view of Salzburg, the lead in the 85th minute unfortunately only stayed until stoppage time, when goalkeeper Köhn had to accept a second goal to make it 2-2.
Before the international break there was a win at Austria Wien
On the last matchday before the international break, RB Salzburg had a relatively difficult time at Austria Wien and had to fight for victory for a long time. In the first half of this even game there was no hit on either side. In the second half of the game it was Karim Adeyemi who, after a little more than an hour of preparatory work by Andreas Ulmer, provided the acclaimed goals for the 1-0 success. Karim Adeyemi has already delivered numerous excellent performances this season and has attracted the attention of such a large international club. However, the fans of Red Bull Salzburg can relax, at least for the time being. The sought-after striker Adeyemi recently announced in an interview that he definitely has no plans to leave the club during the winter break.
In the summer, the supporters of Salzburg will probably have to make friends with the departure of Karim Adeyemi. Such a move to a big club would once again be a significant sporting weakening, which on the other hand should again bring a high transfer fee for RB Salzburg. That should apply all the more if Adeyemi should make more such outstanding appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga as well as in the Champions League later this season.
Coach Jaissle was absent due to a corona infection
But even with the undisputed leader of the table, RB Salzburg, not everything is going well. Shortly before the last away game at Austria Wien, it was finally announced that coach Jaissle had been relocated to Corona. Accordingly, the German trainer could not sit on the coaching bench in the Austrian capital. The assistant coach and sporting director Freund, who jumped in, took on this task in Vienna and achieved the next victory with a good job.
In the Austrian Bundesliga, the table leaders RB Salzburg will host FC Admira Wacker next weekend. Probably then Matthias Jaissle, who has taken himself, will be able to sit back in the coaching bench and his team in the stadium coach.
RB Salzburg will be missing a man in defense in Bryan Okoh. The Swiss tore a cruciate ligament in his right knee in the final training session of his national team. As a result, Okoh will likely not be available to his team in the coming months. Bryan Okoh had only played once for the Red Bulls in the ÖFB Cup and was not yet on the pitch for RB Salzburg in the Bundesliga.
