Finswimming, a shower of medals for Calypso in San Marino
The fin swimming season is made official by the Republic of San Marino. On Sunday 21 November the 5th Titan trophy, a speed swimming event in a 50-meter pool, was held at the Multi Eventi Domus. The 2021 edition took place with a contingent number of 150 athletes and the presence of seven clubs. Calypso from Piacenza took part in the event with 29 athletes who played 55 individual races and 5 4 × 50 mixed fin relay races of various categories. The Piacentini have collected numerous victories and podiums, reaching the second place in the team classification behind the sports group of the financial police of Emilia Romagna and in front of the local team of San Marino.
The team accompanied by technicians Umberto Raimondi, Jonathan Alario and Laura Galli got on the podium with the athletes of the beginner category: Pietro Zanelli, silver in the 50 and 100 fins; Andrea Capellini, bronze in the 100 and gold in the 200 fins; Cesare Risoli, gold in the 50 and 100 fins; Thais Cardenas, gold in the 50 and 100 fins and Sara Fulgoni who collaborated with Andrea Capellini, Cesare Risoli and Thais Cardenas to win the bronze medal in the relay. For the master category the excellent performances of the newcomer Silvia Sordi, who conquers a fourth place with a time trial, Vincenzo Tortis, who dominates the 50 and 100 over 50 fins with great chronometric results, Claudio Bonelli, who, improving himself, wins the gold in the 50 and 100 fins under 50 and Stefano Bazzani, who despite his precarious physical shape is asserted by finishing at the top of the ranking.
For the competitive categories Andrea Rancati stood out, with gold in the 50 freediving and silver in the 50 senior fins, Leon Barattieri, who won silver in the 400 and gold in the 100 fins 2nd cat .; Sebastiano Rossi won silver in 200 and bronze in 100 monofins 2nd cat., Alessandro Vedovelli reached bronze in 200 and 400 monofins 2nd cat., Luca Bonelli silver in 50 and gold in 200 3rd cat. , Francesco Losi gold in the 50 and silver in the 100 monofins 2nd cat., Sofia Masarati gold in the 50 freediving and 200 monofin juniors, Sofia Borreri gold in the 200 and silver in the 100 monofins 3rd cat., Marco Pietralunga gold in the 50 and 400 monofins juniors, Enrico Zangrandi gold in the 100 and 200 fins senior, Matilde Grana gold in the 100 and silver in the 200 monofins 1st cat., Christel Chiapponi gold in the 100 fins and bronze in the 50 monofins 1st cat., Bice Cavallini bronze in the 100 monofins 1 1st cat., Nicolò Fantoni bronze in the 50 monofins and gold in the 100 fins 3rd cat., Henry Basha gold in the 100 and 200 monofins 1st cat., Ginevra Granelli gold in the 100 and 200 monofins 2nd cat., Marta Irsonti silver in the 200 and 400 2nd cat fins. Riccardo Fulgoni and Martina Bazzani also participated who did not get on the podium but produced positive performances.
The 2nd category relay made up of Chiapponi, Rossi, Vedovelli and Cavallini won the gold medal. The 3rd category relay with Irsonti, Losi, Granelli and Bonelli won gold, while the absolute relay made up of Zangrandi, Borreri, Masarati and Rancati won the silver medal. Marco Pietralunga will be engaged with the strongest Italian sprinters in an “Australian” elimination race on the 50m monofin in the Lignano Sabbiadoro swimming pool, on 12 December the Calypso will participate in the Salvemini trophy at the Bologna swimming stadium.
