Genoa, down the municipal housing near the Sopraelevata. Yes to the new parking
Waterfront, the project of the tree-lined avenue and the restoration of the walls approved. In via dei Pescatori there is a public green area and a parking area for 48 cars and 27 motorcycles
Genoa – Even the “popular” houses in via dei Pescatori facing the Sopraelevata will be demolished for a distant place in the new Promenade of Levante. “Initially this demolition was not planned but then we talked about it with Renzo Piano and we decided that it made no sense to leave it there,” explains the commissioner for public works Pietro Piciocchi. The building it is, in fact, in a very unfortunate position, throttled by the surrounding streets, a few meters from the Sopraelevata and next to other buildings already destined for demolition. “These are a few apartments intended for families in housing emergency situations, who stay there for short periods, waiting for a stable solution – explains Piciocchi – But we are already looking for alternative accommodations for them”.
Meanwhile, other pieces of the Waterfront begin to take a more precise form, after the municipal council also approved the final projects of the new roads he was born in level parking provided under the flyover, in the area freed from demolition near the wall of Corso Aurelio Saffi, which will be cleaned and rearranged. While the assignment for the executive design and works of the main canal and the little canal that will cross the Waterfront area has been assigned. The group of companies formed by the Integra consortium and Icop spa won the approximately 15.8 million contract, and the interventions will be financed with state funds, as part of the Metropolitan Cities Operational Program. Since these are the same companies already engaged in the preliminary works, the works will be able to continue without interruption.
On the other hand, the definitive projects for viability, parking and redevelopment of the historic walls were developed by the pool formed by 3TI Progetti Italia – integrated engineering spa, Systematica srl, the associated studio of architecture and engineering Gnudi, and the associated studio of Bellini. The same one who also signed the project for the driveway bridge, worth 2 million euros, which will cross the main canal of the Waterfront. The total cost of the new interventions is estimated, however, at just over 7 million (however, the Levante section of the avenue is excluded from this count), although the final cost will be known once the final design is complete.
Tree-lined avenue also for the bus
The new tree-lined avenue that will cross the Waterfront will be built upstream of the urban park, on the grounds of via dei Pescatori, it will have sidewalks on both sides of the carriageway, and two new roundabouts, to connect the internal viability to the Waterfront with the external one. It will also be traveled by the bus, which will make the last stop at the second roundabout, near the Star Battery. Another element connected to the road network is the level parking provided under the Sopraelevata, in the area freed from the demolition of the buildings in via dei Pescatori and the former pavilions M and C of the Fair. This will be the only surface car park on the entire Waterfront, where approximately 1600 underground parking spaces are planned. Outdoors there will be 48 parking spaces and 27 motorbike spaces, and the inclusion of greenery is also foreseen. Another major intervention will then be the redevelopment of the historic walls, on which the ring road to the sea was built, with Corso Quadrio and Corso Saffi. It is expected first and foremost the cleaning of the walls, to then proceed to redevelopment and therefore a consequence of the stone structure and, to the treatment of the concrete surface with paint of a color to be agreed with the Superintendency.
