Book project about the post-war settlement for the Jews in Norway – 2 years of commitment
In the autumn of 2021, a major work was published on the financial liquidation of the Jews’ fortunes in Norway during the occupation. The book project that is announced will follow the economic post-war settlement from the end of World War II, via development and treatment within public bodies until after the restitution settlement in the 1990s. Perspectives that are to be emphasized are the post-war society and the view of the Jews, the prevalence of anti-Semitic attitudes and the role of Jews in the public sphere.
The applicant is asked to develop a project sketch, with a bibliography and progress plan, which is attached to the application. See further information below.
Book project about Rødsaken – 1.5 years of commitment
Rødsaken has become a phenomenon in the Norwegian public. The lawsuits against Knut Rød have created a great deal of debate. Police Inspector Knut Rød was responsible for organizing the arrests of Jews in Oslo and Akershus, which led them to Akershuskaia and the largest deportation of Jews from Norway. After World War II, Rød was acquitted in two court rounds (1946,1948). The book project will shed light on the case against Rød, both the legal aspects and the political context in which they were involved. A key element will be the reception of the judgments and the debate around them in the post-war years until today.
The applicant is asked to develop a project sketch, with a bibliography and progress plan, which is attached to the application. See further information below.
