TAP will give away 12 slots in Lisbon, double what it had proposed – Aviation
TAP is preparing to grant 12 slots (so-called “slots”) at Humberto Delgado airport, double the amount proposed in the texture plan delivered to Brussels. The information is advanced this Wednesday, November 17th, by Echo, which also indicates that the airline intends to issue debt with private investors, worth 250 million euros.
The delivery plan delivered to the European Commission at the end of last year, it should be remembered, before a TAP gave up six “slots”, a number that was considered insufficient by Brussels, taking into account the congestion at Lisbon airport and a high percentage of slots held by TAP (50% to 60%).
After nearly a year of winning, the Government is thus preparing to accept the transfer of the 12 “slots” that the European Commission requires. According to Eco, the Government intends for half of the lanes to be transferred to be chosen by TAP, with the remainder being at the discretion of the General Directorate of Competition. The plans also include funding of 250 million euros from private investors, to take place in 2023. According to the same newspaper, this is the way found by the Government to increase TAP’s contribution to the effort of its own article .
