UN Committee against Torture to review Sweden, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Lithuania, Serbia and Bolivia
U.N Committee against Torture (CAT) will hold its forthcoming session from 8 November to 3 December, during which it will examine Sweden, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Lithuania, Serbia and the multinational state of Bolivia.
The six countries are among the 172 states that are parties to Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. They must undergo regular reviews by the Committee with ten independent international experts on their implementation of the Convention.
The CAT, which has received reports from each country (excluding Nigeria) and grants from NGOs, will discuss and address a range of issues with the six government delegations through public online dialogues on the following dates:
Sweden: 9 November 10:00, 10 November 15:00 Geneva time
Kyrgyzstan: 10 November 10:00, 11 November 15:00
Nigeria: 16 November 10:00, 17 November 15:00
Lithuania: 17 November 10:00, 18 November 15:00
Serbia: 23 November 10:00, 24 November 15:00
Bolivia: 25 November 15:00, 26 November 15:00
